Vote for Dyllan!

I thought Dyllan looked so cute in this picture that when I saw Parents Magazine was having a "Kids in Hats" photo contest, I had to enter it. This is the week you can vote for her (daily if you love us that much, haha). Click HERE to place your vote for Dyllan in the sailor hat. We'd be SO appreciative!!

A Father/Daughter Moment...

Hope everyone had a nice Father's Day yesterday. We got to see both Dads (Joe's dad for breakfast, mine for lunch), and then spend a quiet evening together. I ordered Joe's favorite...Chinese takeout...and we watched a movie after D went to sleep. I feel very lucky to have married a man who is not only a great husband, but a wonderful father, too. Watching Dyllan spend time with her daddy always makes me smile. She already has a special relationship with him and gets giggly and even a little shy whenever he comes in the room. It's so cute to watch. There's no doubt she loves her daddy...

Wknd recap

It was a nice weekend here at the Getz household. We spent early Friday evening at Green Lane Park, a place I'd been wanting to check out for a while (see photos below). Spent the rest of the weekend mostly relaxing and running errands. I also had the bridal shower of my "Big Sister" from my college sorority....Dyllan came along and LOVED all the attention she got from the other ladies :)

Lucy liked climbing this big rock in the park...

We casually strolled through the park. Dyllan is now sitting in the "big girl" stroller instead of the carriage portion...

A good eater...

In the last 2 weeks or so Dyllan has progressed from eating only rice cereal to some oatmeal and also squash. She's doing really well with all 3 foods and soon we'll introduce another vegetable and some more cereal (barley is the last one, I think). I have some gross pics of her with squash all over her face but Joe wouldn't let me post them as they aren't too pretty. So here's a pic of Dyllan BEFORE the messy eating begins....

Our trip to Wildwood

Dyllan had her first trip to the beach this past weekend. We left Thursday night in the hopes that Dyllan would sleep through most of the ride, and we were happy that she did. We kind of anticipated it would be a lot of work taking her with us on a trip, and boy were we right!! For one, she requires more "stuff" than both of us combined so the new car got put to the test and was packed to the hilt. In addition, taking her down to the ocean had its own issues when...

A) It's a constant juggle trying to keep her out of the sun, yet occupied. Considering she hates staying in one place, I needed to keep her super entertained so that she'd be willing to stay under the umbrella. No reading or relaxing for me!

B) She wants to eat the sand.

C) No matter what I did, it seemed sand was constantly near/in her eyes, as well as many other places! Sweaty baby plus sand made for a messy girl. She had to get sand scrubbed out of all her little arm creases and leg rolls ;)

Well, despite these struggles, Dyllan did really well and I was pleased with how things went. While it's not really a "vacation" since it's so much extra work, it's still a ton of fun to now have her in our lives and along on our adventures with us. Trying new things with her and, most importantly, watching her enjoy them, is worth all the work!

Lugged the exersaucer down to the beach house to keep her occupied....

Dyllan's first trip to the boardwalk. We thought she'd love looking around at everything but the cool breeze and bumpy planks of the boardwalk was the perfect equation for a long nap...

Beach girl! We spent the whole time under the umbrella....

She was constantly rolling her way over to the sand and I was constantly bringing her back to the blanket...

She was such a good girl when we went out to dinner and let mommy and daddy enjoy a really nice Italian meal....

She was also great during a little day trip to Cape May. Loved hanging out in the park...

What a big girl!

Sometimes it still amazes me how big of a baby Dyllan is for her age! She'll be 5 months old on June 9th and yet everyone who meets her thinks she's more like 7, 8 or 9 months old! She's now sporting 9 month clothing. Of course at 9 lbs 4 oz at birth, she had a big start.

Sprawled out, napping in Daddy's lap, I think these pics show how big she's getting (really long in particular). I know she will slow down with all the growth spurts soon...which may be a good thing as I'm really struggling to lug her around right now ;) The bruises on my legs from carrying the car seat around are testament to that!
