Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!! We rounded out the weekend with a few more lazy days, relaxing poolside. On Sunday we spent the day at Sherri & Robert's up in Nazareth where Dyllan had her first-ever pool time. She was indifferent at first, then found it a little scary, but overall did pretty well. Payton, on the other hand, seemed to love floating around in her raft! Today we spent the afternoon at Regency (my parents' development) with Aunt Kelly and Uncle Chris. D had some more pool time and then proudly sported her "My Uncle is a Marine" shirt in honor of Memorial Day (thanks Katie and Kyle!)

Hope everyone else had a great holiday weekend too!

I think Dyllan knows she looks cute in this swimsuit!

Day Trip

We spent a nice Saturday afternoon at Blue Marsh in Berks County, which has a beach and picnic areas. Joe finally got some quiet time to read and I kept Dyllan occupied for a while. She was very interested in watching the water and all the people. Afterwards we headed home and had a little cookout with our good friends, the Jones'. Oh, and the big news I have failed to mention is that we got a new car! A Chrysler Pacifica. This large SUV has a third row seat so we now have SO much more room for all of the baby's stuff, plus the dog when we take her along. And since my sister bought my Outlander from us I still get to see it from time to time ;)

Yum Yum Yum

"Yum Yum Yum Yum" is just one of many silly phrases (accompanied by silly faces) you'll see Joe and I making lately as we attempt to get D to take her rice cereal. We over-emphasize what it looks like to "eat" (smacking our lips and making other ridiculous faces) and Dyllan just looks at us like we're nuts! Most of it dribbles back down her face. But the other day Grandma said she had some luck while babysitting. Dyllan ate almost half a bowl and would open her mouth as the spoon came near. Maybe she's finally getting it....

Here it comes....

Dyllan makes a yuck face..."What am I supposed to do with this stuff??"

Still pretty unsure about it, as most of it runs back down her face...

Bridal Shower

Yesterday was my sister's bridal shower so the week leading up to it has been busy. My mom and I were cooking brunch for close to 50 people, but it all came out good! Gigi watched Dyllan during the shower and kept her happy so that I could help run things. All in all I think it turned out really great and Kelly got some wonderful gifts.

Update on D? Well, she continues to be a bit of a fussy girl ("high maintenance" as I like to call it) so we are trying a few things recommended by the pediatrician, including supplementing with a little bit of soy formula to see if it makes a difference. Of course she prefers nursing and seems to hate the taste of the formula right now but we will keep trying. Other signficant D news...she learned to stick her foot in her mouth and suck on her toe. Lovely!

Busy Weekend

We had a busy weekend! For one, we celebrated our niece Payton's FIRST birthday! She loved eating her birthday cake but was more interested in Dyllan's exersaucer than her new presents, haha. Dyllan is so interested in her cousin and just stares at her in awe so it's a lot of fun having them together. We also go to spend time with Katie, Kyle and Casey who were visiting from South Carolina. Daddy and Dyllan wore matching pink polos (it took a lot of insisting from me, and Joe got a few remarks about it, but it was quite the father/daughter bonding experience, hahaha!!).

Dyllan also got together with some of her friends this weekend...Brady, who is 3-months, and Alex, who is just 2 months. Future boyfriends??! Maybe! We also learned that Dyllan really loves the jumparoo. I hadn't gotten ours out from the basement yet, thinking she might still be too young. Nope, she loves to jump! Now it's just one more toy cluttering our already crowded living room. But it makes her happy, so that makes us happy!

Cousin Pay-Pay LOVES cake! Happy 1st :)

Big Catch

It was a busy weekend here at the Getz household. On Friday night Joe's Dad slept over so that they could get up bright and early for a day of fishing on the Schuylkill. Joe had a big catch with an 11-pound catfish (he released it back after the photos, below!). Today we had a really nice Mother's Day celebration. Joe was so thoughtful, having picked out a very special mother & child pendant for my 1st mom's day. Dyllan decided I really wanted to get the most time possible with her on Mother's Day so she woke me up at 1:30 am and then again at 4:30 am, and finally at 8 am (which is when I'd get up anyways). We think she is teething as she seems in pain when she wakes up and is drooling a lot. At one of the wakings she had a nice gift too...she'd peed through her outfit AND sleepsack!!

Dyllan at the Doctor

Dyllan had her 4-month check-up today. She looks slightly bored in this photo but that didn't last long. After lots of waiting and then some poking, proding and vaccinations, she went from bored to hungry to hysterical (crying, not laughing, unfortunately). But she made it through and besides her reflux issues is a healthy little girl. Well, again, not so little...16 lbs 7 oz (95th percentile)...but definitely healthy! The exciting news is that she will get to start solids now so we'll surely be having some messy face photos soon.
