Busy Busy...

I know it's been a while since I posted. Things have been crazy to say the least. Joe and I had the chance to get away for a little vacation to Leesburg, Virginia (aka "DC wine country"). It's a really pretty area that is packed with vineyards to explore. We stayed at a beautiful resort/spa and pampered ourselves a bit with some nice dinners, sleeping in, and even some time at the spa together. It was really nice to have some couple time, but of course we missed our baby girl. Our vacation did end a bit early when we got the call about Joe's dad having a heart attack. We headed straight to St Lukes Hospital from Virginia but were so glad we got to see him that same night. Joe wouldn't have rested easy until he saw his dad in person and saw he was okay for himself. We are SO grateful he's okay.

The following weekend- Memorial Wknd- was also packed. We took another trip up to visit Joe's dad and to let Dyllan spend some special time with her cousin Payton. And we took a trip to New Jersey to visit our good friends the Van Fleet's and their new baby, Keith Jr. There's no doubt we've had a lot to keep us busy....

A nice dinner in Virginia...no cutting up food into bite-sized pieces or having to order something Dyllan would "like too." Even so, we spent half our dinner talking about a precious little girl!

Cheers!! Enjoying a glass of house wine at Tarara Winery...

Cousins!! Dyllan and Payton playing in the pool together...

Loving the sprinkler too...

During our visit to NJ we took a nice little stroll to the park. Carissa pushed her new baby Keith while Dyllan pushed her own little doll stroller....

Out for a Ride

All is well here at the Getz household and we've really been enjoying this nice weather. Today we took a trip to the park and then went out to dinner for Mother's Day. Yesterday we went for a bike ride as Joe just recently bought a bike seat for Dyllan. She wasn't totally crazy about having to wear the helmet but got used to it. I snapped a few pictures the day Joe bought it and took her for a little test run around the neighborhood....

She looks like she's trying to hold on here...

But she got pretty comfortable with it pretty quickly

And here she's actually smiling and waving to me as they ride past!

Strawberry Festival

We took a nice little day trip today to Peddler's Village for their annual Strawberry Festival. Dyllan LOVES strawberries so we thought it'd be something enjoyable. When we found out her little buddy Brady (son of our friends Josh & Allison) also loves the sweet red fruit, we asked them all to join us! It was a fun day...

Dyllan's first-ever carousel ride wasn't as smooth as I anticipated...she was pretty scared. Brady was a little scared too...

Dyllan's really not so sure about riding the horse, but overall a very fun day!

Egg Hunt!

Dyllan had her first egg hunt today. My playgroup did a special "age appropriate" hunt at the park since all of the local community egg hunts had a lot of older kids and candy that the little ones can't eat. This was one for 12-24 months only, and we filled the eggs with snacks like goldfish or cheerios. We lined all the kids up and then let them run wild with their baskets! Dyllan did better than I thought. For one, she held her own basket, which many of the kids wouldn't do, and she even picked the eggs up for a while. I was very proud...

In the end, though, she was distracted by one of her little boy-friends that just wanted to run around on the baseball field. I'm not sure her daddy would be happy that she was chasing after a boy instead of the eggs ;)

A Girl and her Dog (and her stickers)

Dyllan absolutely ADORES our dog Lucy. While we can't say the feeling is totally mutual (Lucy spends a lot of time "sighing" and trying to avoid D's path), Lucy has been a very well behaved dog with the baby. Even though her looks just scream "Is she serious?" she will put up with Dyllan's antics. Those antics have included trying to ride the dog like a horse, laying on her, and chasing her around the house. Recently it also included putting stickers all over her. Lucy definitely gave us "the look" but she laid there and let Dyllan go to work. Dyllan took the job very seriously. Lucy does a lot of loud sighs, and if she knew how, would probably roll her eyes too
But she still stayed put and let Dyllan play...

The final result...

Cousins

Dyllan had a great time playing with her cousin Payton this weekend when we visited with Joe's family. She definitely loves her cousin...

In the Kitchen

This past weekend my sister and I hit up some of my favorite kid's consignment sales.....and I came home with a play kitchen. It wasn't something I was really planning to buy but it was in good shape and the right price, so we crammed it in the SUV. I was a little nervous to report to Joe what I came home with, but he was very receptive to it. While Dyllan took her afternoon nap I cleaned it up real well and Joe got all the little light-up parts and sounds working and we had it waiting for her when she came out from her nursery. It felt like Christmas! And it's been some of the best 30 bucks I spent yet as it definitely keeps Dyllan occupied and I find I can get more stuff done while she "cooks" in her kitchen. It was also a HUGE hit with all her little friends....

There's no question that this window is the favorite part of the kitchen (for everyone)

Dyllan had a hard time sharing her window with the other kids. She kept resting her head on the windowsill

Even the boys fought over who got to hang out in the window

But somehow Dyllan kept showing up there, with a cute little smirk...
