Busy Days

We've been awful about updating the blog lately but things are just so busy around here. Dyllan is on the move and without a constant eye on her, she's into everything. So we don't have a whole lot of time to ourselves lately. But it's amazing watching her grow. It feels like she does more and more each day. Still not standing on her own or walking yet, but it feels close! We're pretty sure she could actually stand on her own but she's still unsure of herself. She wants to keep a hand on something even though she barely holds on. She also "cruises," walking around the room holding on to things.

Tonight Dyllan had her first "big girl bath," which was exciting. As she's started to really love bathtime and always wants to play in the tub, we decided to ditch the baby tub and see how she'd do. She LOVED it. We all ended up pretty wet with all the splashing but she had a blast. Enjoy some photos below.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!! We certainly feel blessed here at the Getz household and are thankful for our little girl.

Forging Ahead!

Things continue to improve here at the Getz household as Joe is finally feeling better from the headaches he was getting and is able to get up and around more as a result. There were a lot of theories what was causing them (the spinal anesthetic, the pain meds, dehydration, surgery itself, etc) but having stopped one of the pain meds seems to have made a difference. Dyllan laughs when Daddy walks around in the walker and obviously is completely unaware of what's going on except that Daddy now spends more daytime with her since he's not down in his office...she definitely likes that. But he'll likely be back to work full time very soon now that things are looking so much better. We even ventured outside of the house for the first time last night and Joe did very well with the short car ride to Applebees and using the cane.

We still can't thank everyone enough for the notes, get-well gifts and meals, and most importantly the prayers. You have certainly helped us through it!

Dyllan likes to follow daddy and his walker around in HER walker!

Sharing a laugh! Dyllan sometimes cracks up at Daddy limping around...poor guy

JOE

Just a quick update on Joe. He had a successful hip replacement surgery on Tuesday the 26th and amazingly went home the next day. Because he's so young and healthy his recovery is considered "fast track." He's doing really well with physical therapy and is able to get from the armchair or bed to the bathroom on his own, which is what I was most worried about since I can't help him around too much by myself. But with the walker, he does well. The hardest part at the moment might actually be the headaches and dizziness he's getting...probably a combination of the spinal anesthetic still wearing off, and the pain meds he's on.

We are very appreciative for all the get well notes and care packages that have been sent. And Joe and I both really appreciate your prayers.

More Fall Fun

Fall is my (Linz's) favorite time of year and I've been trying to spend a lot of time outdoors and introducing Dyllan to all the fun things that come with the season. We've spent our last two weekends at pumpkin patches. She loves playing with the hay!!

Two Makes Trouble

On Friday night Joe and I made a "trade off babysitting" deal with friends of ours that have a baby the same age as Dyllan...we'd watch their son Jackson one night at our house so they could have a date night and then we'd bring Dyllan there another Friday night. Well, it was EXHAUSTING. I am now even more amazed by people who have multiples. One was crawling one way, the other the other way, and they were climbing everything!!! Joe ran out to pick up dinner and I felt like I was losing control of the room! However, despite all the work, it was a lot of fun too. And now we're looking forward to our date night...

Two hams for the camera: Jackson & Dyllan

Another theme of the evening: competitive crawling. Jackson was chasing her until he decided to pose for the camera

So cute, yet so much work...

Gymboree!

Last week Dyllan's playgroup did a session at Gymboree and Dyllan got to try out all the fun "gym" type of equipment- things to crawl through and climb. She did really well and I loved the fact that there were mats everywhere so any little falls were no big deal!! Now if only we could put mats throughout the whole house....
